One large, accidental mistake founders can make in fundraising is to ask for too much money.

What do I mean? Let me give a recent example.

The other day, a founder cold emailed me and the startup looked pretty interesting. They’d gotten to almost $2m ARR without any funding

Is VC somewhat broken today? Yes

Multiples are lower, valuations remain very high at seed, IPOs tough, M&A rough

But find that Datadog, AirBnb, Wiz, Monday, etc. early and it all still works

That’s very hard. That’s the job.

Why bother, when it’s < 1% of your users and everyone is focused on iPhone, and maybe, Android?
