This week I joined members of the Sikh community as they made their way through Merced as part of the Fearless for Justice March campaign.

I stood with our Sikh community today to educate people about the genocide that occurred and to ensure our American freedoms are protected - That includes our 1st Amendment right to speak freely, including criticizing authorities without threats or violence. #Sikh_Genocide_1984

The majority of Americans are living pay check to pay check. Folks want to be seen and heard. Instead, they were lectured with doomsday scenarios. Here we are, doomsday scenario. Simply put, the Dem party has taken its base for granted for too long. Result? Trump.

Last night, we, the Sacramento City Unified Board of Ed. passed a resolution recognizing the 1984 Sikh Genocide in India. Sacramento is home to over 40,000 Sikhs, many of whom are survivors or descendants of survivors. It was an honor to recognize Jakara Movement for their work.

Today, Sikhs around the globe celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of the Sikh religion, who called on us to accept the equality of all humanity blessed by the same God. Let us take time to remember his revolutionary teachings and remind ourselves that 'we are

Today, we celebrate Guru Nanak Ji’s 555th #Gurpurab (birth celebration.) Founder of the Sikh faith. In this dark time, his universal teachings are more important than ever. Naam Japo (meditate), Kirat Karo (earn an honest living), and Vand Chako (share with those less fortunate.)

SB 509 has unprecedented support from a diverse coalition of religious organizations, community groups, and law enforcement. Not a single vote has been cast against it in Committees or in the Assembly. There is broad consensus that we must act to stop Transnational Repression.
