Most don’t realize it yet but once this tunnel is completed the city will finally have the ability to host some really cool events/concerts that Memphians haven’t had the opportunity to see. With stadium shows being as popular as ever I really hope the UofM takes advantage.

Geoff Calkins I was able to acquire some “Swag” from the seating areas and I-Beam from the press box supports. Many thanks to the construction company! Left some blood, sweat and tears on that field during scrimmages preparing the Varsity for games and the 1973 Blue Gray Game Spring

The most beautiful land in the world. Memphis is a special place. I’m so proud to be from the 901. No amount of outside noise can change that.

Just hearing about the passing of Fred Smith. Terrible news! My parents moved my sister and I from Orlando to Memphis when my dad was hired to the Falcon in Feb of ‘73. Nearly 29 yrs and 23k hours of flight time in the Falcon 20, B-727, DC-10 and finally the MD-11! ⁦FedEx

Fred Smith truly was one of the greatest transformational leaders in history, truly an epic figure. Fred’s heart was larger than his fortune as evidenced by countless philanthropic initiatives. Fred Smith was a hero to me and I will dearly miss him. dailymemphian.com/section/metro/…

Memphis has lost its most important citizen, Fred Smith. Federal Express is our economic engine. But also, in anything that affected Memphis, Fred Smith was there as Citizen Smith. From the FedEx Forum to Liberty Stadium—which is being updated with his help—to our world class

Fred Smith made Memphis better when he didn’t have to. He made people’s lives better when he didn’t have to. We all should be more like Fred Smith now that he’s gone.

18 months ago, we at The Commercial Appeal named FedEx founder Fred Smith our Sports Person of the Year. “… the sports scene in Memphis would be unrecognizable without Smith’s behind-the-scenes contributions over the years,” Mark Giannotto wrote then. commercialappeal.com/story/sports/c…

68 days until Memphis Tiger football and this DeAngelo Williams 68 yard run to set up a touchdown and 31-7 lead over Akron in the 2005 Motor City Bowl. That run pushed Williams into the 2005 NCAA rushing lead for the season. (Dave Woloshin and Bob Rush)

Fred Smith demonstrated the remarkable difference a single life can make, changing the very nature of global commerce and improving lives for generations in communities across the world. The character of Memphis has been shaped by Fred Smith’s kindness and endless generosity.

There is no Memphis without this man. His impact here will no doubt be felt for generations and generations to come. May he RIP.

The Healthiest teams win in the NBA. So sad for Hali and the Pacers. Thunder takes Title in 7. (Griz up 29 on Thunder GM3.. Then Ja goes down, and without BC….)
