It is always about water & it always will be. It is always about water as tool of power & oppression where marginalized communities suffer the most. Studying water crises for decades has shown me that all things lead back to water. With climate change, water crises will worsen.

I keep hearing people say that this political moment is unprecedented. I disagree. In a lot of ways, I think it’s just history, repeating itself. This history is one I explore in my book, #ByTheFireWeCarry but for those unfamiliar with it I wanted to highlight the similarities 🧵

I get to read books like this and talk about it with students for work ⚡️ Michelle M. Jacob, we’re reading it for a course on Indigenous resurgence and ceremony. Students are getting a lot out of it.
