Wow! Beeindruckend wie ihr zum einen die fehlerhaften Herzklappen für den Operateur zur "Test-OP" herstellen und anschliessend, nach der Korrektur, auch noch im Fluss testen könnt. Hört sich für den Laien sehr sinnvoll an, das Ganze vor der eigentlichen OP zu testen.

Very proud of our discovery: a heat-induced CNS plasticity mechanism that drives heat tolerance. I had hoped for it to come out 2 years ago, but I tried too hard with @nature and after several rounds of revisions they rejected it – see/judge yourself. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great study about a little understood aspect of calcium homeostasis and the identification of a new hormone - I recommend to listen to the nature podcast to learn how difficult it was (and still is) to detect and get a grip on CCN3

Check out this very interesting “Whisker-Learning” model using unrestrained mice from the Groh lab, allowing for more naturalistic explorative behavior than in head-restrained animals. It is compatible with in vivo neuronal recordings and manipulations.

Very interesting study by the Ivo Spiegel combining ex vivo and in vivo recordings to show how short-term and longer-term synaptic plasticity interact to homeostatically reduce neuronal activity back to levels observed before light stimulation, implicating Npas4 in the process.
