Highlights from the third edition of the Kisumu car-free day last Saturday. Car-free events are crucial in the shift to equitable and accessible use of streets for all. City of Kisumu is encouraging the use of walking and cycling as alternative modes of transport.

Seen this 100 times over on Waiyaki Way and other busy roads in Nairobi (even when there is a crossing). A huddle of pedestrians assemble on the side and when a few are together they foot across the street in a cluster. Motorists 6/10 times slow down as they approach.
