Pakistan is home to many different faith groups. It was wonderful to see this diversity first-hand. Promoting religious harmony is key to building more peaceful and safe societies. I’m proud that the UK remains a firm champion of religious tolerance.

Tensions between India and Pakistan remain a serious concern. Speaking to both Dr. S. Jaishankar and Ishaq Dar today I’ve continued to push for a path forward through diplomacy, not conflict. I have been clear to all sides that if this escalates further, nobody wins.

Last night's military activity between India and Pakistan is a serious concern. Speaking today to Dr. S. Jaishankar and Ishaq Dar I was clear that conflict is in nobody’s interest. There needs to be a dialogue that leads to a swift and sustainable ceasefire.

Today’s ceasefire between India and Pakistan is hugely welcome. I urge both parties to sustain this. De-escalation is in everybody’s interest.

Important visit to Pakistan following the hugely welcome ceasefire with India. Because of the deep links between our countries, the UK is determined to play our part with India, Pakistan and international partners to help counter terrorism and ensure this peace lasts.

The UK and Pakistan cooperate on many issues, including the environment, education and trade. I was pleased to have important discussions in Lahore on expanding our work together.

The UK condemns the horrendous attack on a school bus in Khuzdar today. We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives, including the unconscionable targeting of children. Our thoughts are with the families and all those affected. We condemn terrorism in all its forms.
