Many reasons to ignore the misinformation-monger "debate me" strategy, including: 1) Don't want to platform & legitimize. 2) Results in harmful false balance/bothsidesism. 3) Invites rarely genuine. Reality: troll stunt used to discredit. ("You coward!") 4) MANY rich, public, &

I really do feel this. There’s no reason for everything to be fight. But so many turn debate or genuine curiosity in to that. It’s a weird offensive play to try to be the first to dig. How did we get that way? Is it fear? Shame? It has to be emotional - I’m just not sure what.

Thanks to farmer friends who have a huge raspberry patch and the pretty impressive canning section at the Co-op, (and some mint from the garden) I’m ready to make 120 jars of jam. #weddingprep

Okay, Twitter. I’ve made raspberry jam (with basil) and rhubarb relish but I need a third jam/jelly. Share your fav recipes, please?

I’ve planned music festivals before. Conferences. Public outdoor winter events. Wedding planning is WAY more intense. And it’s a small wedding. And it’s mostly just a party. Good thing he’s a keeper.

Jasper and I are getting married today. Here he is figuring out where to stand. Just kidding (obviously). I’m marrying a wonderful human in our own backyard and I couldn’t be more excited.

This morning some dude said to my doorbell camera, “this is getting annoying” and kicked the community dog water bowl we put out across the lawn. And I’ve been haunted by it all day. What, exactly, is annoying? Is it the water? Is it something else? I need to know more!

Can you imagine having your home show up in the centre of a political debate like this? I’d be livid. LIVID. Yes, she’s a renter. Maybe the owner gave permission. But that only makes it worse.

Because this place is quickly losing touch with anything remotely civil, I’ve moved on to bluer skies. I haven’t spent much time on it yet. Anyway, I’ll keep this account. But from here on out I’m only talking in musical lyrics.

Update: I wrote my comps. Five four exams, one each day this week. Two more weeks and then I defend them. Then I write my diss. Then I defend it. Then, when my students call me Dr., they’re not wrong. The end is in sight. #phdlife

I’m only back to say that I think about running for #yxecc a lot. But only to run on a platform where I’d literally tell you to not vote for me, and instead explain why your vote matters and how (some) candidates don’t actually want to do anything other than keep their pals rich.
