Little Terns are back! Six birds were feeding off the beach at Kilcoole all afternoon today. Also few ringed Ringed Plovers as I walked along the shore...

Recce/Ring reading trip to Ireland's Eye yesterday.Nesting season in full swing, couple of Puffins seen, first Shag chicks hatched etc.Sadly, all of the seabirds nesting on the island are on steady decrease.Worst situation with Great Black Backs-less then 50% comparing to 2022

Probably last two Ringed Plover chicks ringed in Portrane this summer.First at 35 grams big enough for colour, second one nearly half size 18 grams, but they are always hanging together, behaving like siblings and following the same adult🤔

A nice illustration of how colonies are connected via this bird and thanks to Jan Rod official . It was born at Portrane (co. Dublin) in 2021, caught as a nesting adult at Baltray (co. Louth) in 2023 and this year has been caught again at Kilcoole (co. Wicklow)!
