trump in the past few days: - trade deal inked with uk. - china tariffs paused 90 days, looks like a pathway for a legit deal. - japan & south korea deals almost done. - inflation cooling, possibly dipping. - scored a qatari royal 747 jet as a casual gift. - announced pharma

This is not that crazy i thought UK water was fluoridated my whole life - but it’s not, only a handful of countries actually do it. So this is actually normal. Whether it’s right is another matter.

This probably needs auditing. ASIC cards make these codecs 40 times faster out the gate so state actors have no motivation to optimise legacy software solutions except to get an “in” to software that’s deployed (for better or worse) everywhere.

Crazy people believe that 99.99% of such workloads could possibly be powered by CPUs without the internet (and prob the climate) imploding. YouTube alone has been using their own hardware chips for years for encoding and transcoding (the Google-developed Argos ASIC).

software engineers afraid of losing their jobs misunderstand their profession and the craft you are supposed to see patterns and solve business problems, do research to make the systems and product better code is means to an end, not the end itself, it never was

The strategic implications of this drone attack are enormous. $200bn strategic deterrence infrastructure nullified by a $2m operation. The discussion in the Kremlin tonight… Use it or lose it?

I have focused on this issue above all else in my career. I care deeply about it. The failure of the DoD to foresee what was totally foreseeable, with obsessions with yesterday's threats is such a failure. We need to educate our non military leaders on what this is, a huge issue

My guess is Putin is contemplating either escalation or negotiation in the face of the blow to his strategic forces by the drone attack. It's a very dangerous moment.
