Peter David was that comic book author who led me to reading novels and thus impacted me in many ways. News of his passing after a long health struggle is hard to hear. He created worlds and realities that live within readers and will for a long, long time.

This book is why I’ll read any work Iglesias unleashes. In 240 characters, I’ll say this is Crime & Punishment, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, & Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man fused-the Bruja’s backstory is a tragedy that I can’t shake. I am better for this real tragic horror.

Brilliant! Many colleges were founded to address issues larger institutions didn’t. For example, Berea & Butler were founded by abolitionists aiming to educate all people when most schools refused. Why could there not be schools pledging to keep local ancient knowledge safe?

When I teach abroad, I have this problem. Visiting a used book stall, a book dealer said, “Just leave your clothes and such things behind! You have worn those before so you know who you are in them, but these books are new to you! You must discover who you will be at their end.”

Ordered a DVD from Amazon since physical media is locally rare. They sent an envelope instead of box so the disc came loose-was scratched unplayable. To return it I have to waste gas or pay $7.99 for return from home. Amazon make money off me buying gas for errors I didn’t make?
