Climate change is leading to phenotypic mismatch between the migratory behaviour of giant Asian honey bees (Apis dorsata) and their floral resources in Western Thailand. Landscape use changes are compounding this issue even further. Alarming work by Dr Orawan Duangphakdee.

I'm in Ho Chi Minh City talking about the impacts of climate change on Asian honey bees at Madhu Duniya 2023, Asia's largest forest native honey and bee conference. This work is a collaboration between Western Sydney U - HIE and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore, and supported by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 🇦🇺's Centre for Australia-India Relations.

Dr Pham Hong Thai is using social media apps like TikTok and Facebook to teach Vietnamese villagers how to identify their two native giant Asian honey bee species Apis dorsata and Apis laboriosa. Perhaps our lab should have a TikTok account?! I'm not a good dancer though...

🎄9️⃣🎄 Is this bumblebee knitting? 🧶 This underside shot shows how female bumblebees collect pollen by brushing the fine grains out of their hair and into the pollen baskets on their hind legs. 🔊 Sound up for that bee-utiful buzz! 🎁 Bee ID pack 👉🏽 ow.ly/M8JG50QbyHK

Another beautiful Tetragonula carbonaria brood spiral. Check out the two queen cells at the top right corner of the brood! One is sealed, and the other is unsealed. We are developing better methods for rearing stingless bees colonies and their queens to aid crop pollination.
