ORCAS... The icing on the cake of what has been an incredible week. This afternoon we followed the '64s' Orcas from land for a couple of hours as they hunted in Bressay Sound, Shetland. Amazing views with belly rolls, spy hops and tail lobs. ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค

A great time presenting and organising the Scotland Nature Student conference in Edinburgh. I presented the first chapter of my PhD which looks at the impacts of beavers on migratory fish ๐Ÿฆซ๐ŸŸ, and even managed to win a prize for the best talk - I promise it wasnโ€™t rigged!

James MacArthur (James Macarthur), followed and told us about the use of large scale eDNA sampling to understand the comparative effects of Eurasian beaver activity and other environmental factors on spatial distributions of migratory fish

Pioneering Research on Beavers and Salmonids Last week I had the privilege of joining James Macarthur at one of his survey sites in the Tay catchment, where he was electrofishing above and below beaver dams alongside Dr Robert Needham and Finn Cowell.
