🚨 New #LoveVirology preprint: This paper has it all: single cells, COVID, CRISPR & Sunshine! We systematically characterize host factors of SARS-CoV-2 using Perturb-seq. Led by Sara Sunshine, bringing together Jonathan Weissman's Lab, Joe DeRisi's lab & many others doi.org/10.1101/2022.0… 1/

We are excited to share new work from our group at .UC Berkeley. We characterized hundreds of plant transcription factors, that modulate gene expression to enrich gene regulatory networks. See thread for a summary. #transcription #plantsynbio #systemsbio tinyurl.com/z3nfm8x5

Delighted to post our lab's manuscript! Awesome work by clarajanae (she/her) and Dawei Dai with help from Grey Monroe

Are you a postdoc/grad student preparing to launch a faculty search? Have you worked to increase equity & inclusion in STEM? Apply to the 2023 Next Generation Faculty Symposium (berkeleystanfordnextgensymposium.com)! RT widely! (1/4) @CZBiohub Sarafan ChEM-H @StanfordBioE Stanford Bio-X

Fantastic day on Lake Tahoe with the Ohainle Lab and the Nuñez Lab at a UC Berkeley MCB retreat Thanks for joining us Nuñez Lab!

Excited to share that our team's development of the CRISPR-DREAM platform, led by the innovative Barun Mahata, has been published in Nature Methods today! These new CRISPRa systems permit robust, versatile, and well-tolerated engineered gene activation across diverse human cells!

The HuSH complex silences retrotransposons in vertebrates. Our latest manuscript introduces HuSH2 and delves into the fascinating interplay of two paralogous HuSH complexes in governing LINE-1 silencing. Credits to Zena Jensvold and Anna Christenson. doi.org/10.1101/2023.1….

Join us at UC Berkeley MCB! Our faculty search is super broad and I can't speak highly enough about the colleagues and trainees in our department. The deadline is fast approaching, October 31. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Did you know that bacteria remember their past for many generations? In this new preprint from us (Alexis Villani and Senen Mendoza) and Banin lab (Esther Shmidov ), we reveal the "how?" and "why?" underlying a long-standing mystery in bacterial memory. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Love this paper! Congrats Josh Tycko et al.
