Not much evidence of clean public transport on my way to work on #CleanAirDay. As a Stagecoach South bus passed by me I was hit by a warm wall of fumes - really unpleasant. And this was the CrossCountry Trains train I got - polluting the platform

My cameraman Trevor has the perfect parasol for a live on Oxford Road in Reading! It’s quiet here with people avoiding the lunchtime heat but that’s hitting independent traders

It was great to meet @ianparmiter, see inside his fascinating home - "the house that time built" and film his art. What an inspiration.

Following my previous tweet, the OFSTED inspection will go ahead tomorrow. The head has withdrawn her request for people to come to the school to help stop inspectors. But 3 teaching unions continue call for a pause of inspections and review of their impact on wellbeing of staff

Interesting to see how growing Ofsted reform movement has played out today. I've been reporting from Newbury school where head Flora tried to block inspectors. In the end she had to let them in but there's clear support now for some kind of reform bit.ly/403L6eN

A preschool’s owner told me Ofsted lacks “compassion & understanding" after it refused to defer an inspection. Kim Sallis tried to delay as the setting’s manager was on compassionate leave. Ofsted said it had to go ahead. That left staff sick with worry so she had to shut

My friend and colleague Peter Cooke has quickly made this short doco about headteacher Ruth Perry and the movement for change at Ofsted that her death has begun. It’s only 14 mins and well worth a watch - very moving. bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episod…

Following on from my earlier thread. At least another 30 people have offered to pay for this man’s dental care after seeing him on our evening news. Most say they don’t have lots of money but were moved to help. We’re really bowled over by people’s kindness & generosity.
