Ascension Day is 40 days after Easter Sunday - Jesus met with his disciples during the 40 days after his resurrection to instruct them on how to carry out his teachings. On the 40th day he took them to the Mount of Olives, where they watched as he ascended to heaven.

This lovely retreat is designed to celebrate the children in Year Six as they begin to come to the end of their time in primary school. Their two academic years has not been as anyone quite expected and so this retreat seeks to give thanks and celebrate their journey.

Today - on the Solemnity of St Joseph - we spend time as a parish in silent prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. We unite in praying for an increase in Vocations. RC Birmingham Birmingham Vocations #vocations

Some observations on the week;
1. School leaders nationally have done an incredible job. The logistics of moving to instant remote learning is mind-boggling. The profession as a whole should be proud. And people are welcome to express some appreciation.

That statement was so badly delivered that I am completely unclear about which pupils are in, which are out and learning remotely, and whether anyone gets another week of holiday.
