An absolute delight to work with the brilliantly talented young players of the Boston Phil Youth Orch (BPYO) orchestra on Mahler 2 this afternoon. Such great spirit in the playing!

And, at last, the Boston Symphony rounds the last bend of its Shostakovich symphonies marathon this week with performances of No. 13. Our Tanglewood Festival Chorus were joined by the New England Conservatory Symphonic Choir directed by my brilliant colleague Erica Washburn.

So enjoyed our Prague Summer Nights Festival orchestra concert today in Jihlava 🇨🇿, Mahler’s home for his early years. His statue is placed in a quiet park next to the old town walls. Classical Movements

Sad to leave Tábor, our base this week for rehearsals. It’s a beautiful ancient Czech city, and the people here have been so welcoming. And they love their music! 🇨🇿 (excellent ice cream too!😋) Classical Movements

DRET Music James Burton MAA Music Department Some rather lovely singing here 😍

“Cabinet maker, could you craft me a conker?” Love this pic of today’s joyous music making in Hull Minster with the young singers DRET Music. Congrats to them all, and to SeX x porn and his team for bringing us all together. @JackieMorrisArt Robert Macfarlane #thelostwords

Such a pleasure to see so many Boston University alums in the audience for our first BUSO concert of the year BU School of Music College of Fine Arts, Boston University

Looking forward to performing at Symphony Hall Boston Symphony this Friday with our Tanglewood Festival Chorus singers. A pleasure to introduce to Boston some music by my lovely 🇬🇧 colleagues Roxanna Panufnik and @RGCWbaritone

Fantastic singing and music making from The Choir of Trinity College Cambridge in their Advent service, including a joyous rendition of my Tomorrow shall be my dancing day. Watch here: shorturl.at/ckoy5

Lovely to be reunited with my old friend and colleague @kathyclugston, promoting tomorrow’s GASPARD’S FOXTROT concert on BBC Radio Ulster followed by a rehearsal with the magnificent Ulster Orchestra conducted by James Burton 🦊Family concert at @BelWaterfront tomorrow at 3pm!

Music by the Mendelssohn siblings and James Burton inspire charmed performances by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and its Youth Chorus voxcarnyx.com/2024/03/17/rsn…

It’s so rare to hear Brahms played on period instruments, and it was an absolute pleasure to conduct the Requiem and Begräbnisgesang with Handel and Haydn Society along with soloists Lucy Crowe and James Atkinson and concertmaster Aisslinn Nosky. 📸 Sam Brewer

Saddened to hear of the passing of Sir Andrew Davis. A frequent guest of the Boston Symphony since the 70’s, his first programme in Boston was Elgar 2. His final one in 2019 was RVW 5. Fitting. It was a pleasure to meet him, and to have been inspired by him for so many years. RIP

For Gramophone - with thanks to Martin Cullingford - a piece about the late Sir Andrew Davis's long association with Michael Tippett. gramophone.co.uk/features/artic…
