Hugely enjoyed Cameron Cross MCIArb's great paper on leprosy and the religious model of disability in Hartmann von Ave's 'Der Arme Heinrich' - which also served as a great introduction to a really striking text that I'm eager to find out more about

St. Michael weighing souls in St. Margaret's church in Cowlinge Suffolk. On the opposite side of the chancel arch is the Virgin Mary interceding by tipping the scales. Admittedly one of my favourite wall paintings! #WallPainting #ChurchHistory

There are 3 weeks left to submit abstracts for the symposium that Harriet Clark, Charlotte Palmer and I are convening on feasting in medieval life and literature!

Very excited for this upcoming conference by Midlands4Cities and Wolfson Foundation doctoral researchers! If you work on any aspect of feasting in the medieval world, then consider submitting a proposal 🍗🌮

Extremely excited about this: we've been working hard to put this together and I'm very excited to see what our speakers have to say on the subject.

Really looking forward to this, a huge amount of effort has gone into it and I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's papers. There's still time to sign up for in-person or online attendance.

It's been a week, but I should say what an absolute pleasure it was chairing Dr. Sarah Baccianti's excellent keynote and the Arthurian panel with Carina Be, Anna Packman and Charlotte Palmer at The Great Medieval Feast, c. 1050-1500. I couldn't ask for a better set of speakers for my first time as chair

My new housemate heard I worked on medieval ghost stories and very kindly gave me a translated copy of Pu Songling's 17th-century work 'Strange Tales from a Chinese Studio'. It's refreshing reading stories w/ similar topics to my thesis from a very different cultural context

I was lucky enough to present in Lena's session this year, and hope that I can present again in 2024: I had a great experience as a first-time presenter and would highly recommend it for anyone working in medieval death studies.

Absolutely last call- final totting up shows that what with withdrawals, additions etc we're now 2 papers short of brilliant 3 session run on Mourning and Remembrance #IMC2024. Any tombs, laments, ghosts, cadavers out there- this is your chance! Need to hear by end of tomorrow.

The idea, sometimes seen in older scholarship, that medieval people felt nothing for young children, is totally inexplicable to me. How can you say this when Pearl, a crown jewel of Middle English Literature, is such an deeply moving portrayal of grief for a newborn daughter?
