A day after protests broke out over dismantling the independence of Ukrainian anti-corruption institutions, Zelensky says he will introduce to parliament new legislation that will “strengthen the independence” of these institutions. Let’s see what the new bill will actually say —

Protesters took to the streets for a second night in Ukraine after President Zelensky signed a bill that removed the independence of two anti-corruption agencies.

The bill, signed by Zelensky on Tuesday places the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) under the control of Ukraine’s Prosector General, appointed by Zelensky.

Protestors fear that the change will undermine anti-corruption investigations into senior government officials and damage hopes of Ukraine joining the EU.
