"Teach us true respect for all". On the day Jamaica marks 62 years of independence, these words from the national anthem ring truer today than ever. Words to live by. Everywhere. Always. #onelove #respect #jamaica62 #jamaicaleeds #jamaica

Leeds's last surviving Caribbean WW2 veteran & Windrush passenger, Alford Gardner has passed at 98. A proud Jamaican, and part of a generation who helped to rebuild postwar Leeds and Britain we owe him more than a tweet can say. Thank you Mr Gardner. For everything. 🖤💛💚💔

Today we remember the formidable Una Marson, born in Jamaica 120 years ago today. Writer-activist Una was the first Black woman to work for BBC in WW2. She produced Calling the West Indies, later Calling the Caribbean for radio, a Caribbean literary hub. A true inspiration❤️
