Hattiesburg isn't in Bennie G. Thompson's district, but the rest of Mississippi's Congressional delegation is too afraid of voters to hold town halls, so Bennie services the entire state all by himself.

When Pete Buttigieg spent a day in the Delta and Jackson last year, Congressman Mike Ezell—who had personally thanked Pete for Pete's historic support of Congressman Mike Ezell's district—went on WLOX and claimed Pete didn't care about red districts like Ezell's. I checked, and Ezell's claim was a lie.

It would be great if #MSleg members from the coast decided that they should not neglect the Delta and Jackson the way Congressman Mike Ezell falsely accused Pete Buttigieg of neglecting the coast.

Hattiesburg isn't in Bennie's district, but when Forrest General doesn't get the representation it deserves from Mike Ezell, Bennie is plenty generous to sit down and talk with them.

FG's best case would be to have a better rep of their own. Ezell's district can't be lost to a Democrat, but Ezell can lose to an indie. Just have to find one who's popular and competent. May need to modify said indie's approach to public safety a bit, but otherwise, we good.

IMO organizations that receive large sums of money either directly from the state or through state tax-credit programs should have whistleblower policies, esp. after the welfare scandal. Perhaps Shad White OSA can add that to his legislative recommendations.
