A fun afternoon singing Tippett’s spirituals. Really lovely meeting 25 participants from several corners of South London who had signed up and then contributed so much to our Come and Sing event.

Glad it went so well. We hear that first-time participants ranged from local residents to Putney-ites. Having community activity in the Community Music Centre JagsChoralSociety means a lot to us.

Members of Holst Choir sent in their uplifting individual recordings of Jerusalem which we had fun combining with Parry’s original Sib-ed up orchestration. Lovely to be able to share this with our whole school community in Mrs Huang’s virtual assembly this morning.

Stupendous! We are so blest to be associated with @JAGSschool JAGS Music and tangentially to other Southwark Schools Learning Partnership schools. #Beethoven250 looks to have been a huge success at such a difficult time for music. Well done to Peter Gritton for playing such a leading role.

Some beautiful music-making in the #VWA #JAGSCMC last week - Bach on harpsichord, Hungarian cello music & Clair de Lune - bookended by brand new ensemble arrangements of When I’m 64 and Ol’Man River. Music can bring such joy and fulfilment to both listener and performer alike.

Our second live rehearsal Bell House Local composer Jonathan Lee talks to us about how he found inspiration for his new piece ‘Lament for Zenocrate’ commissioned by the choir. So interesting to hear about the Dulwich connections to the story! #marlowe #burbage #edwardalleyn

The threat of rain did not deter us from giving the world premiere of Jonathan Lee’s “Lament for Zenocrate” Bell House We also dedicated Chilcott’s Irish Blessing to Elaine Shackleton, finishing with VW’s Mystical Songs with everybody singing the baritone solo line.
