You may well have the unusual situation of the Columbia student radio station being eligible for a Pulitzer Prize, administered by Columbia University, for the station’s coverage of how Columbia called the cops on Columbia students. (They’re doing an extraordinary job).

CNN's Miguel Marquez: 'I've covered lots of this sort of stuff around the world, and i've never seen this many police moving into one area.'

Please, everyone, remember this: the presence of police on Columbia's campus comes because of the request of the administration, in defiance of faculty governance. This is the authoritarian university in action.

Whether at CUNY, Columbia, or elsewhere around the country, the more the police repress our movements the more our movements will grow. You cannot tell people they cannot protest genocide. Hundreds of thousands of students are being radicalized in real time.

The team at WKCR-FM NY are delivering incredible live reporting as this unfolds.

At every encampment, I've been blown away by the resilience, dedication and empathy of student journalists on the ground. If you're a student journalist, know that your work is so vital. Keep going.

An army. Literally an army. For a group of kids who have made no threats, are doing nothing violent, and who everyone agrees are unarmed.

As someone who was out there reporting, it was violent. My peers were slammed to the ground or beaten with batons. The last thing I saw before I went into hiding was a fellow student being tackled by around 7 police officers. I couldn’t even see their body on the ground anymore.

Columbia’s own website has a page about how the last time they called for a mass arrest of student protesters, they were in the wrong and fucked up their reputation for decades

I will never be able walk past the entrance to the 2b alley again without hearing the students’ screams as police took them into custody. In the four years I spent as a journalism major at Emerson covering campus news, never did I witness violence unfold like last night. Grown

an Emerson College student sent me this video of city crews cleaning blood from the alleyway where 108 students were arrested last night during an encampment sweep. I'm at Boston municipal court today where eight of those arrested have been given summons for arraignments in May.

Police are shown getting physically violent with faculty. 'You will not touch our students,' a faculty member said.

What’s noteworthy here is how the BPD attribute the mass arrests to the “camping ban” that the Wu administration introduced last year and the city council voted for. It was a bad policy when wielded against unhoused people and it’s now being wielded against student demonstrators.

Awesome thread recounting the timeline of events from tonight’s protest at Emerson College that ended in dozens of student arrests. Keep sharing more posts from tonight to make it loud and clear—we will not forget these injustices any time soon.
