Oh hey! It's been a while. I no longer link to my writing here, but making an exception for this post about leaving for bluer skies and other platforms, which maybe you should try too! jacobgrier.com/blog/2024/10/0…

Happy to get some friends over to Bluesky this weekend, and also getting new signups to our link-sharing app Seabird. Sign up at the link or DM me if you want to check it out before we launch our new app for web and mobile: seabirdreader.com

Feeling like this is a good time to try out an alternative platform? We're releasing a limited-use code to join Seabird. 1) Download the Seabird Reader app for iOS or Android. 2) Use the code "GetOverYourX" to create an account.

I've enjoyed using Seabird for a long time, even though I keep coming back to the Siren song of X. Seabird reminds me a lot of the old Google Reader: a good way to share articles you enjoyed with a brief comment attached. Give it a try!

A small but smart userbase and a chronological feed of posts from the people you actually follow, linking to things worth reading. Come check it out!

For any Portland people curious to come to the good place, I've made a starter pack of local writers to follow who are active on the platform. go.bsky.app/MH2VzsR

Seems like there's a bit of an eXodus happening. If you're ready to get over your X, you're welcome to join our link-sharing community at Seabird!

Passed a thousand followers at the other place today, about double what it was a week ago. Still less than I had here but between the opaque algorithm, the zombie accounts, and the degradation of the userbase here, engagement is leaps and bounds better there.
