To put it simply, the Christian now loves the God he once hated and hates the self he once loved; he now desires the righteousness he once spurned and despises the unrighteousness of which he once boasted.
Conviction of the Day:
“I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.” Romans 9:2
“There are a lot of people who embrace reform theology that don’t seem to have that. Where’s the sorrow, grief, pain, and agony over the lost condition of people”
- John MacArther
Piper: “The key to rejoicing always is to pray continually — to lean on God all the time and to call to him often. Come to him repeatedly during the day, and come often. Make the default state of your mind a Godward longing and a Godward thankfulness.”
If yesterday you failed, fell, sinned... and you are unconcerned, then you would be right to fear. However, if your heart is broken over yesterday's failures, run to Christ immediately & do not delay. "For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning..." (Lam. 3:22-23)
My need of grace and mercy is exorbitant, excessive, enormous. Yet my need is never beyond the resources of God in Christ. I have nothing but Christ. I need nothing but Christ. I am content with having been saved entirely by the work of Another that all glory might abound to Him!
