NOTE: the reason a gate is required is because the route passes through a meadow where cattle graze for some of the year. A trial cattle grid for wheeled users was rejected after a dog died after falling into it. So swing gates were chosen instead.

Sure signs of advancing middle age: showing an interest in titanium bikes and macro photography, buying wine by the case, and listening to Radio 2 and thinking it’s 6Music.

Went to the Culloden Battlefield today and did a guided tour. I’d read most of the history already but seeing some of the artefacts and just standing there under a lowering sky was unexpectedly moving.

Good ride today to here. And back.

The most exhilarating and uplifting moment of the year, when the giant oaks come into leaf. Happening right now here in #Monmouthshire . Impossible for a photograph to convey how it looks, let alone how it makes me feel. Blink and you'll miss it.
