"Movie Quest" Update 📽️: Out of the two Akira Kurosawa films I've encountered on the list, Ran is vastly more enjoyable than Ikiru. The first has very slow (albeit meaningful) dialogue and not much happening. The second gives you much more reason to pay attention throughout.

"Movie Quest" Thought 📽️: Akira Kurosawa clearly has range in directorial ability and a unique style. I'm interested to see how Yojimbo, Rashomon, and Seven Samurai, his other films on the list, compare to these two at the end of the day.

Some incredible cinematography and character development in Season 2 of Severance. I’d highly recommend watching if you haven’t already. I’ll admit it takes a few episodes to get fully invested, but it’s well worth the early effort.

"Movie Quest" Thought 📽️: Glengarry Glen Ross is a perfect example of why I'm doing this challenge. It takes something that I have literally no interest in (real estate sales) and presents a superbly compelling narrative with great performances that makes up for it in spades.

"Movie Quest" Update 📽️: After my experiences watching and throughly enjoying Sunshine and Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle has cemented himself as one of my favorite directors. The amount of suspense leading up to one crucial moment in both is just masterfully created.

My hatred for jump scares led to me avoid the horror genre almost entirely up until recently. I’ve been having a blast exploring popular scary franchises and standalone films since my decision to tell my anxiety to kick rocks.

"Movie Quest" Thought 📽️: I just couldn’t get into Close Encounters of the Third Kind, despite the praise and moments where I thought it might happen. I’m curious as to if my experience would’ve been different at release, since alien stories are just so common these days.

The main theme from ‘MINECRAFT’ has been added to the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry for its cultural, historical and aesthetic importance.

I finally took the time to finish playing through Life is Strange this past week. Even though everyone had raved about the story, I was pleasantly surprised even with my high expectations. The complex characters, insane twists, and music came together to make something special.

I read my first two Freida McFadden books, Ward D and The Housemaid, over the past week. While some things were definitely predictable or telegraphed, the twists that I didn't see coming were jaw-dropping. It's a nice change of pace from the long fantasy books I've been reading.

I've seen the new #Superman in theaters three times. Since it's release, it has become one of my top three favorite comic book movies of all time, alongside Iron Man and Avengers: End Game. It's a masterfully crafted beginning to the #DCU by James Gunn and infinitely rewatchable.

I also want to share that Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir has become one of my favorite books. Aside from my personal connection to Ryland Grace as a teacher, the story is full of heart and truly so special. The final scene is definitely among my favorite endings in general.

I'm most definitely late to the party, but the first Hollow Knight game is truly phenomenal and in conjunction with Animal Well is seriously making me rethink my whole opinion on metroidvanias up until this point.

Quoting my own post to say that "Spanish Sahara" by Foals has constantly been playing in my car since I finished the game and that probably won't change anytime soon. Beautifully apt and impactful song choice for that moment in the story and I'll never forget it.
