If anyone is of the view that the odd flooding incident might be a normal event, scroll back through tweets from @volcaholic to see how it is now a truly global phenomenon. We need an urgent programme of adaptation, including large-scale Nature-based solutions.

Another boring bit of pasture but so much alive in it and hard at work! Waxcap mycorrhizal networks, dung full of beetles, worms building casts and meadow ants filling their nest with vegetative matter, all actively improving the soil and in turn feeding other creatures! Bliss!

This is a reminder to include crab apple in your hedge planting mix She's a spiky lady so works well in a thorny hedge. This one was so thorny &dense its where the only nest in the hedge was Great layed into the hedge itself or left as a hedge tree Blossom🌸✅️ Fruit🍎✅️

Hebden Bridge is flooding 😢 if ever there was an example of why not to damage, drain and funnel water from gigantic hilltop peat bogs down into a valley - this is it. Really feel for all the small business owners and homes.

For hedges, capital grants cover: Planting Laying Coppicing Fencing Gapping up All of which are essential, all of which are currently on hold with the capital grants freeze. It's my biggest hope for 2025 that these are re-instated ASAP to reduce the wider damaging impacts: A🧵

A great day at Scroggs Bottom, Wensleydale, installing raptor nest baskets & a wild bee log as part of a #WoodlandCreation scheme! These will boost biodiversity by providing vital habitats for wild bees & birds. All paid for by the @WoodlandTrust's Grow Back Greener grant.

In Littondale & the Wharfe today, The Wild Trout Trust #AdvisoryVisit(s) for anglers & farmer. Brooding light, lots of oystercatcher ready to pair up, plenty of good as well as bad but not too much ugly to discuss and find solutions for.
