My main takeaways from the recent spam attack: 1) many, even among otherwise knowledgeable Bitcoin enthusiasts, confuse mempool standadsness policies with timechain validity policies, 2) many, even among otherwise knowledgeable Bitcoin enthusiasts, confuse "spam" with "invalid".

1. There's already plenty of illegal content stored on bitcoin. 2. This does not incriminate all node runners, per this Wired article. I made a section on ordinals dot wtf (link in bio) with some articles and papers covering illegal content on Bitcoin from years ago.

Interested to see how a permanently full mempool affects lightning routing nodes. The last couple of years, force-closes usually came in very cheap - now, due to the heightened fee environment force-closes could really hurt, especially with pending HTLCs.

The likelihood that this is NOT a coordinated attack at this point seems stupidly improbable. Our government is sitting with their thumbs up their asses & spending billions on gender studies while someone is actively destroying our infrastructure & people. Wake up
