So the UK Government has taken £155.5m that was allocated to Wales because the Welsh Gov hasn't spent it quick enough. There is probably blame on both sides here (plus our awful devolution settlement) but it is a bit technical so stay with me because this matters. [Thread]

THREAD: The Benefits of EU Membership Let's remind ourselves of some of the things Brexit took from us when we left the EU. (Not an exhaustive list.) 1. No barriers to trade with the world's largest trading bloc. (Bristol, Berlin, Barcelona all equally accessible.)

The SNP's Alan Brown asks whether UK Government will devolve The Crown Estate to Wales like it is in Scotland. David TC Davies 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇬🇧 rebuffs, claiming that its devolution would be "very risky" for Wales. This *despite* 75% of Wales demanding it. Westminster doesn't work for Wales.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Wales should have power over its own water – do you agree? 💧 In 2017, Wales was given the mechanism to do so, 💧 We were told that the UK Gov were dragging their feet, 💧 We now know that it was the Welsh Government that called for a delay.

I was asked recently why I did not write about "Brexit" anymore. My answer: Because Brexit is done. The UK is no longer a member of the EU. But...came the reply. So, here are my thoughts on how I see things. I'm not sure they'll please anyone. beergbrexit.blog/2023/08/07/sum…

"As long as we're tied to the apron strings of England we're always gong to be dictated to by the English Tory majority. So in fact if you continue to vote for the Labour Party, If you continue voting for people who would deny to Wales the right to put our own house in order...

Some people might not be aware but a group of hateful English second home owners have organised a group on facebook opposing Cyngor Gwynedd's measures to control second homes, the members of this group are open about their hatred of the Welsh language and people

There's a line in the book of Welsh myths the Mabinogi that says that between Wales and Ireland 'there used to be nothing except two rivers' before 'the ocean spread out' and I always wonder if that's an extremely old memory that has somehow been passed down thousands of years.

1/14 I'm a bit surprised by how much traction my single-tweet rant at Oslo airport has got (22k likes so far), but less surprised by the volume of invective from leave accounts. It got me wondering why pictures of airport queues always wind up Brexiters so much. A 🧵
