This unremarkable looking cover is the key cover for a TPO collection as there is only one known for this line. #philately #postalhistory

Almost there, title page and first page of Cape of Good Hope Maritime Postal history, 300 years story, 160 pages. Not too sure if there are many venues I can use 10 frames. #philately #postalhistory

Been busy with a write-up for circular postmarks and associated obliterators. Any comments on the title and importance will be appreciated. I don't like the word associated, any suggestions? #philately #postalhistory

1872 Missent cover sent to the Cape. As per annotation on the back flap it was found inside of a newspaper from England. Sometimes you wonder as to how some items survived all these years. #philately #postalhistory

1893 The end of the Compass Wheel datestamp in the Cape. Shown with late surviving copies clearly showing bad impressions and a Reckitt's Blue laundry soap advertizing cover. Anyone still wearing white shirts or dresses? #philately #postalhistory

Maritime covers are the most interesting, as one can identify the ship, the rate, the markings, accountancy marks and maybe something about the recipient. This ship was the Elizabeth Martin named after Donald Currie's mother. #philately #postalhistory

Seen at Harmer's Inc auction yesterday, an unremarkable looking piece of postal stationery that realized a remarkable price! Unique proof approx $5k. #philately #postalhistory For less than 10% of this, one can buy all the listed postal stationery mint or used! #philately

First day of Issue France! #philately #postalhistory. Postal clerk screwed up the postmark, but genuine first day cover. Currently coming up for auction.

#philately and #postalhistory reveal the bright as well as the dark side of history. Given the recent events in the Hague and the announcements by Germany and Namibia this postal history write-up is very relevant. southafricanphilatelyclub.com/wp-content/upl…

Can someone tell what are these, apparently sold in China by the Postal Savings Bank. A friend send it to me. Not too sure how many countries still have Postal Savings Banks.
