I'm skeptical most media outlets (let alone politicians and lobbying groups) are going to be able to truly cover who this dude is and what he believed considering how much of this requires you to have a working knowledge of shitposts/internet factions

NEW: Speaker Matt Hall says he won't support moving the primary election date up from early August next year. Future cycles are a possibility, "but there's no way that I'm going to support that or but that up for a vote right now," he said.

24% tax on Marijuana wholesales passes Michigan Senate 19-17. There was a LOT of House resources moving about the senate ahead of this vote and speaking with holdouts to say the least

Interesting note on the marijuana tax increase. Among the no votes: - the top Republican in the Senate (Nesbitt) - the chair of the Michigan GOP (Runestad) - one of the most progressive Senate Dems (Irwin) - one of the most moderate Senate Dems (Hertel) It still passed.

An absolutely jaw dropping bit of journalism. A reminder: OTR privilege is only and ever granted by reporters, not interviewees. No matter how much an interviewee insists information is OTR.

Today's a campaign finance deadline in Michigan, and I'm very happy to announce the bot has returned! The state's new campaign finance portal makes it harder to view reports, so the folks at Bridge Michigan and I were compelled to bring it back.

Michigan Senate votes on a $71M food assistance supplemental as SNAP benefits are set to pause next month. Notably, state constitutional rules prevent the House from taking this bill up in time for the Nov 1 deadline regardless.
