The power that Rails gives a developer to build powerful things quickly continues to amaze. I'm iterating on a beta of a content planning/management tool that, both as a content creator and as a developer relations professional, I've wanted.

I have a few little things to tune up, and then I think I'll open it to the first beta testers. Then I think I'll start tackling the platform integrations for content analytics, and think about opening up the API.

An update on my app for content creators to track, share, collaborate on, and manage content creation, including post-publishing analytics via platform integrations. I've spent a lot of time focused on flexible simplicity, making it usable for individuals or teams. Here's a peek:

It is just barely there, and the only integration so far is Hashnode (thank you for being SO easy to integrate with, vs certain platforms like this one....), but....beta release is coming with some functional post-publishing analytics already working!

It's really impressive what Rails 8 + Stimulus lets a developer build. From a concept of an idea to a really useful application in such a short time! I'm working on deploying it for beta users right now. An update on that will be coming soon!

I've spent the day working with OpenAI's Codex research preview. While it has potential, right now it's underwhelming. On identical tasks, Anthropic's Claude-3.7-Sonnet still consistently does better work faster. Codex, now, is really only competent for very simple tasks.

Yesterday, I saw a discussion from someone about how AI is built on stolen data. I recently discovered OpenLedger , and while I need to read more, it looks like they're changing this, leveraging Blockchain to openly track/reward data provenance and impact on the model. 🤔

When you spend all afternoon debugging why your referral code design isn't working right, only to realize that you support a `max_uses` that can be set on referral codes. At some point, you set that default to be 1. So the system is actually working as designed. Pilot error...

The mine-is-faster-than-yours posturing every time someone like Nate Berkopec comments on the low cost to run a real-world Ruby web application is so silly. Whether it's Rust or Ruby, the language speed is rarely the bottleneck. Everything else is the bottleneck.
