In June, there are many new honey bee colonies with young queens needing to mate, so well-fed, healthy male #bees, or drones, like the one on left of shot by Sarah Hodnett, become vital to the continuation of the colony. This one is being fed by another bee. #beekeeping

It's all kicking off.

A change in weather allows an opportunity to snatch some ripe honey. Just starting to crimp a proportion of colonies as swarming impulse recedes.

Plenty of bees. Who knows maybe a splash of rain could lead to a second wave of nectar.

We've had a pretty good run in the South the last few Summers... So I suppose it was only a matter of time before a big Atlantic low sits itself on us mid-summer flow.

#beekeepershour Good news this week, with some of our Bee Team back & in-between the rain, we inspected our new splits from this season and all have lovely fat laying queen's! 😊🐝 (though one still getting the hang of one cell, one egg!)
