We're proud of the lifesaving work our volunteers do in the Channel – we make no apology for it. Those we rescue are vulnerable people in danger & distress. Each of them is someone’s father, mother, son or daughter - every life is precious. This is why we launch:

Harvest Festival at Burstow was the third Benefice celebration. As the choir sang ‘Seeds scattered and sown’, seeds were handed out as a reminder that Harvest comes from sowing and that we have to give back to the earth, not just take from it; in giving, we receive #SouthwarkCofE

Lovely launch of Café Church in the Windmill United Benefice this afternoon

Jubilee weekend is fast approaching and the churches of the Windmill United Benefice, together with the Parish Councils of Burstow and Horne, invite everyone to celebrate in style!

Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, a book of condolence has been placed in each of the three benefice churches. All are welcome to spend time in the churches remembering Her Majesty’s long life of service and to add their thoughts to a book, if they so wish

There will be a service of Choral Evensong in commemoration of and thanksgiving for Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 5.30pm on Sunday 18 September, the eve of her funeral, at St Mary the Virgin, Horne

Our special Christmas services begin on Sunday with the Burstow and Smallfield Carol Service at 4pm in Smallfield Church Hall, followed by mulled wine and mince pies. All very welcome! Full list of Christmas services across the Benefice here:

As Holy Week approaches, here are all the special services that will be taking place in the Windmill United Benefice

Maundy Thursday in the Windmill United Benefice: a meal together in Smallfield Church Hall followed by Communion, then a vigil in the chapel

Good Friday in the Windmill United Benefice: the Good Friday liturgy at Horne then Café Church in Smallfield Church Hall. Hot cross buns, activities, Easter gardens for the three churches, music - and a cake to celebrate the first birthday of Café Church!

Easter Eve in the Benefice: the Easter vigil and blessing of new fire at St Bartholomew, Burstow, with the lighting of the three Benefice Paschal candles

The benefice and the villages are Coronation ready so come and celebrate!

A glorious Deanery service of Baptism and Confirmation with Bishop Rosemarie at St Mary, Horne yesterday and celebrations in the sunshine afterwards
