WTO members welcomed more formal acceptances of the #FisheriesSubsidies Agreement at the opening ceremony. "With the 70 we'll have this week, we'll now have 40 members to go, so the countdown towards entry into force can now start in earnest," DG Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala said. #WTOMC13AbuDhabi
Wonderful to have you Santiago Wills as the Secretary of WTO #mc13 at this very critical time in the world and when efforts on key issues like ending harmful fisheries subsidies need to be accelerated! Thank you! Friends of Ocean Action Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Fauna & Flora Peter Thomson

Delighted to attend the launch of our new Centre for International Economic Law and to hear a fantastic keynote from Santiago Wills, Director of the WTO General Council. Well done Billy Melo Araújo and colleagues QUB School of Law and best of luck with this exciting new venture!
Thank you Prof. Billy Melo Araújo and QUB School of Law for inviting me to deliver the keynote lecture for the launch of Q-IEL. As I mentioned during my remarks, centres like Q-IEL provide invaluable insights and input into the work that we do at the WTO.
It was very enriching to attend #Davos2025 World Economic Forum. Accompanying Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala WTO, and engaging with global leaders, innovators, and changemakers on the most pressing challenges was truly enlightening. At this juncture, it’s critical to support and strengthen multilateralism.
