By all means tax people who have too much wealth, Jeremy, because too much wealth inequality is an evil, but you could have benefited while Labour leader from knowing that you don't need their money before a govt can act to improve people's lives. Always happy to chat about MMT

You can find other people on here tweeting incomplete/misleading/politicized visuals about government deficits. This thread is for those who would rather take the time to learn something.

Here's the thing... Reeves doesn't have to borrow £s for her investment. The City spivs want her to, cos that's one way they can make a turn. A sovereign currency issuer, as Keynes famously stated, can afford whatever it can do. Finding the money is never the issue. A 🧵

Can someone community note this garbage? Govt spending is currency creation, not “borrowing”. Interest paid is just more currency creation. There’s no such thing as “taxpayer money”. Govt can never run out of £ or go bust. Anything achievable is affordable.

Noticed more people sleeping on the streets? Noticed broken public services that are often unaffordable after decades of austerity? Noticed a Labour government who promised "change" but now endlessly repeat "difficult decisions" but for the poorest? Let's ask better questions.

Remarkable man. After all his successes - especially in the region - he knows what 'cannot' or what 'must' happen. We're so lucky to have him.

He summoned the strength to sue Yaxley Lennon. He won. But Yaxley Lennon, despite knowing the allegations were false, doubled down. Continuing his bullying of a refugee child. And now he’s been held In contempt for repeating these false allegations.

Not happy with making people choose between heating and eating, Labour adds daily travel? A fifty per cent fare hike will be a burden many can’t take. Buses get low paid people to work, students to college, parents to shops, and are accessible to everyone who can’t afford a car.

Zack Polanski (@zackpolanski) 's Twitter Profile Photo

So far we know it will be poor parents, people who use buses, pensioners.... Who else are the Labour government going to give the "tricky choices" speech to on Wednesday? They've already repeatedly ruled out a wealth tax so I'm not sure why he's saying "broadest shoulders."

"Funcas estimates increased government consumption — including pandemic-related support and public-sector jobs — accounted for 59 per cent of that growth." Growth = increase in government spending on.ft.com/3Ys9l6S
