Glad to finally share our manuscript on “Serial Lift-Out” by the amazing twitterless Oda Schiøtz, Jürgen Plitzko, Christoph Kaiser , and myself. Doing multiple sections from single lift outs showing beautiful C. elegans ultrastructure 🤯 I could watch it all day 🤩How did we get there?

Very excited to share that our review on #nucleophagy is now out in FEBS Letters 🎉 doi.org/10.1002/1873-3… Emily Boyle and Florian Wilfling discuss the diverse mechanisms for degradation of nuclear components by #autophagy across eukaryotes.

We had a great lab dinner this week and enjoyed some traditional Frankfurt cuisine. It was fantastic to have (almost) everyone together including rotation students and visitors!

We are very happy that our newest postdoc colleague, Els, has recently started in the lab! She will be joining our team investigating degradation of nuclear pore complexes by autophagy, using expertise gained during her postdoc time with Christian Schlieker. Welcome Els 🎉🎉🎉

Last week the film crew of the FWU (Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education FWU Institut für Film und Bild) came to lab to interview Pia and Florian. The FWU are making an educational movie on fasting and wanted to hear everything about our research on autophagy in yeast 🧫🎥

This Friday from 17-22h: Night of Science! Max Planck Institute of Biophysics two of us will give a talk: Fabian on how cells get rid of their waste, and Els Kuiper on how our cells stay healthy with age. More of us will be there to make ice cream and do small experiments 🧪🍦 don't miss it!

The Night of Science was a big success! Many people came to Max Planck Institute of Biophysics to enjoy the science, by doing small experiments🧪 eating liquid nitrogen ice cream🍦 and listening to talks 🎤 Emily Boyle and Delong showed how saliva digests food, Fabian Fiedler and Els Kuiper gave a talk

It's summer! 🌅 so we finished the experiments early and went for a well-deserved evening of drinks, dinner, and (not) discussing science 🍹🍕🧪🔬 #ScienceSquad #SummerNights #LabLife

We were excited for Els Kuiper to attend the 'Self-Leadership for Women Scientists' course! EMBO. Building soft skills like leadership, communication, and self-awareness is just as important as mastering scientific techniques. 🧠💪 #WomenInScience #Leadership #Empowerment
