The air quality wasn’t great for our quarterly Water Quality Sampling at the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER yesterday, but there were some pretty stellar crews out on the bays!

Ever wonder what a boating prop scar looks like in a #seagrass meadow? This is the reason Virginia Coast Reserve LTER researchers are often seen “putting” slowly throughout the meadows at low tide to avoid harming the seagrass.

2+ years taking the same route to my lab, speaking to the same person each time. Today they gave me a heads up that I’ll be getting a work order to dump their waste….once I led the convo towards them realizing I’m a PI, there was no apology…just backtracking. #BlackInSTEM 🤷🏾‍♂️

Congrats Rachel Smith - our 2nd place winner for the ESA Restoration early career publication award! Rachel studies the loss and recovery dynamics of coastal foundation species to better understand how to restore and manage coasts. Check out the winning paper: conbio.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

I made a post for my Instagram about graduate research fellowships in marine science (and other fields) and thought I might as well post here too since it’s scholarship season! Hopefully it’s helpful to someone 🌊

Almost everybody answers this incorrectly in my opinion. They give a single answer like in math instead of a range of answers like in statistics. That’s why statistical thinking is better than math thinking when it comes to real life problems.
