UPDATE 8:00pm: #hawkeyefire Air resources have left the area due to nighttime restrictions. Tremendous progress has been made as far as containment goes. Dozers continue to make a containment line around the fire.

UPDATE 3:36pm: #koontz3fire Fast response credited to keeping the fire to a minimum size. Forward progression has been stopped, and crews are mopping up. All units will be clearing shortly.

Your Wichita West Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 7000 Block of Seymour Hwy. The fire started in the backyard, and spread to the adjacent structure. Fire in the structure was limited to approximately 10% of the attic. The fire is under investigation by the WCSO

BURN BAN IN EFFECT: Effective immediately, a burn ban is in place for unincorporated areas of Wichita County. The burn ban is in effect for 90 days. This limits any outdoor burning to only welders and agricultural burns, in accordance with the TCEQ. #wwvfd #wichitawestfire

Your Wichita West Firefighters were called to the 3700 block of S.H. 258 for a grassfire. Upon arrival, 2 camper trailers were on fire, and a small area of grass around the trailer was burning. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Wichita County Sheriff’s Office.

SMOKE and FLAME IN AREA of FM-369/Haws Rd. A large, deep pit with trash burning approx 15 yards off road. Fire is contained to the pit, and is being monitored regularly by dept officials. Smoke and flame may be visible but no current danger of the fire breaking containment.
