Whitriggs #monitorfarm profit up, output up, carbon footprint down all done while increasing biodiversity from species rich grass, hedgerows, field margins and water margins. This is “natural capital” in action and shows it can be done while remaining profitable.

A year after selling their flock of 1,000 ewes, SRUC Alumni Stuart Mitchell and his family at Whitriggs Farm are fawning over their new stock of red deer. They've built up the herd from scratch to 300 over the last 16 months, and are one of just 30 deer farms in Scotland. 🦌

🤩We really enjoyed working with the farmers who shared their insights at our #Roots2Resilience events. 🌎Together, we explored key questions from our levy payers, like: How can we boost farm ecosystems while maintaining productivity? 🌱
