As I listen to Julia Gillard speak about her famous misogyny speech, I’ve realised that my anger about the way our first female PM was treated by misogynistic politicians, media and community will NEVER DIE. I’ll be red hot angry about this forever.

Can the death of Liz Truss’s prime ministership please also spell the death of the already regularly disproven notion that wealth trickles down? Thank you!

I've spent the past few years calling out the decline of Australian media & this poxy effort in the Herald-Sun today is a new low. Truly pathetic 'cooker clickbait'. Yet few of my journalistic colleagues, most of whom agree on this, ever call it out. Hey guys, IT'S TIME YOU DID.

Thank you Denis Muller for calling a spade a spade. Murdoch media is not about journalism, it’s a propagandist for wealth and power. Muller is spot on. It takes guts to publish this - thank you ⁦⁦The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand⁩! Please share👇🏻 Needed to be said theconversation.com/attacks-on-dan…

"You're next." It is not news, perhaps, that the poor have been used as an extractive resource by the state for some time. But it tells us a lot about how Robodebt was conceived and executed, and the apparent indifference of those giving evidence. thesaturdaypaper.com.au/news/politics/…

Thought I might put a few thoughts down about the #Robodebt Royal Commission. If you're following me you probably know I've taken a close interest ikn it for a long time now. So: a thread.

I've written about media bias of a different kind - so-called progressive outlets Guardian Australia and @themonthly who promote "centrist" Teal Independents as pure, even when they're voting against workers' rights. Let's remember what progressive looks like! independentaustralia.net/politics/polit…

Qantas doesn't want multi-employer bargaining because Alan Joyce has set up or engages multi-employers to game the current system: 21 external companies 17 of its own subsidiaries 5 companies for engineering 9 companies for baggage, cleaning & catering 12 for flight attendants

I did my honours thesis on the media representation of the mining tax. I found 75% of coverage adopted the mining-billionaire funded PR narrative that framed the tax as bad for Australian economy and jobs. Would anything be any different 13 years later?

Women are told they can’t have it all, so there’s no point trying. Then when they show they can indeed do it all, they are torn down by insecure men (and some women) who can’t cope with successful females. This paradox is a toxic, insidious presence in women’s lives. A thread👇🏻

I’ve written about a study which shows journalists who are accused of left-wing bias respond by biasing their reporting rightward. This is concerning considering the constant attacks on ABC by Murdoch and Liberals, which damage ABC’s editorial independence independentaustralia.net/business/busin…

The reason news media institution is meant to exist is to hold powerful people to account by informing citizens of their wrongdoing. Think about that when you consider Murdoch media worked in concert with Liberal govt to hide #Robodebt, and instead smeared Centrelink recipients.

Organisations are publicly proudly announcing donations to the ‘Yes’ campaign because they want to see Australia unite for a better future. Why are those contributing to the ‘No’ campaign doing it opaquely through the sketchy Advance Australia back channel? Transparency please.

One of the major issues in political journalism is that political actions are only judged as ‘strategies’. Through this lens, misinformation and spreading racially charged fear, are seen as successful, smart ways of winning. Where is the moral lens? Does it even exist anymore?

Victoria Fielding (@drvicfielding) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The 'no' campaign is built on lies and misinformation which the 'no' camp's media supporters are happily platforming. The biggest lie of all is claim that a constitutionally enshrined Voice is more powerful than a legislated one. Call it out! My analysis👇🏻 independentaustralia.net/politics/polit…

Liberal James Stevens said he can’t comment on experiences of Aboriginal people post-colonisation because he’s not Aboriginal. He is meant to be making policies for Aboriginal people in parliament, yet is campaigning against listening to them to make those policies better #QandA
