Westmeath were honoured this week to attend a ceremony in Croke Park to be presented Covid 19 Service Medals by Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Coveney for all the work that was undertaken during the pandemic. An awards night will be held for those who couldn’t go

A busy weekend in Westmeath, members are doing the TFT SWORD ( Severe Weather Off Road Driving) course over the 3 days of the weekend and we had students that did their practical exams today for Emergency First Responder in Roscrea, well done everyone

Westmeath provided ambulance and first aid to the fast paced Mullingar GP for Lakeside Wheelers. Provided ambulance cover to Mullingar Prides very successful event and last Sunday we provided cover to the Mullingar Agricultural Show which was a hugely successful event as usual.

Another busy weekend for our volunteers providing cover for the Mullingar Classic & Vintage Show and for the Irish Marching Band Championships. Two very successful events and thank you to the volunteers who gave their time to assist.

Many thanks to Offaly Civil Defence for facilitating 2 of our EMTs with their CFR-Advanced recertification on Sunday and to Stephen Lloyd for instructing on the day.

Monitoring radiation levels remains a core service of Ireland's Civil Defence. As part of the National Plan for Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Exposures, Volunteers from across the country attended training last Saturday with the Environmental Protection Agency.

On Tuesday, Civil Defence Officers & Assistant Civil Defence Officers attended a Continuous Professional Development seminar in Tullamore. Thanks to Stuart Garland of @voluntireland for his engagement with the group.
