Using dual-LUC assays, ZjbHLH87 was found to negatively regulate the expression of GA genes ZjKAO and ZjGRP11, which was enhanced by SJP39 stabilization (7/8).

Lastly, GA treatment of SJP39 and ZjbHLH87 transgenic jujube lines resulted in no change in plant height, whereas control lines had a noticeable increase in plant height after treatment. This further supports our proposed model and the role SJP39 plays during infection (8/8).

Intracellular pathogens can form extensive hyphal structures. Here, the pathogen Phytophthora palmivora (magenta) produces invasive hyphae in a living epidermal cell of a Nicotiana root. The plant surrounds the invader by an 'extra-invasive hyphal membrane' (yellow)📸Alex Guyon
