Interview with a teacher who recently left the profession. Why did you resign? “I have a Master’s degree. I work really hard. I love teaching kids and am great at my job. I do it all for a disgracefully low salary. All of that and I’ve never felt so disrespected by so many.”

Education has always seemed to be focused on fixing teachers. Teachers don’t need to be fixed but they do need to be supported, encouraged, & appreciated. Thank you to all the leaders who do!

Teacher evaluations should be more aspirational to reflect professionalism of the role. How are you doing this year? What do you think we are doing well? What is an area we can improve? How can I best support you right now? What professional goals can we help you achieve?

If you’re a HS athlete that doesn’t have the grades to qualify for a 4 year college then your parents didn’t hold you accountable enough growing up. With proper structure and effort no one should have less then a C in school. It ain’t that hard.

For 2023, let’s remember THIS. Asking teachers to do ‘ONE MORE THING’ and not removing anything else from their plate doesn’t help anyone. •It doesn’t help Teachers! •It doesn’t help Test Scores! 🙄 •And it certainly doesn’t help STUDENTS!

Things teachers want to say to parents… -Take the phone away at night. Your kid isn’t getting enough sleep. -Don’t believe everything your kid says. They lie…A LOT! -Teach your kid to have some grit. Also teach them to be nice! -Stop blaming everyone for your kid’s issues.

Middle school is not the time for you to be more hands-off with your child. If anything, act like they are big, smelly toddlers. Developmentally, they are supposed to push boundaries. This is when you earn your parenting stripes.

It's disconcerting, but sometimes I hear, "Will teachers use plan time well if we give them extra?" As long as teachers are prepared for their classes, it shouldn't matter what they use their plan for. Sometimes planning includes resting and recharging. #MakeTeachingSustainable

Parents, If your kids are on TT or SC & you're not doing phone checks...going through their DMs....like all up in their business.... I promise you, you need to be. I promise you. I promise you. Just look.

If a parent asks how they can help their child succeed in school, please start with the BASICS: •𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩…8-10 hours •𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧…must limit sugar •𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦…let them fail without quickly trying to save them
