🚨🚨🚨🚨Michael McDowell in the IT espousing the CPO-ing of city center space for cycling!!! 👌👍👏👏👏👏👏 Most of the article is the usual nonsensical, car first, diatribe of stuff, but this paragraph is a nice change of pace.

What we can learn from this report is simply this - the car park owners had to pay someone to make a really bad argument against the transport plan, because there isn't a good argument they could have used.

Protesters gathered on Grafton Street today to demand the continuation of the Dublin City Centre Transport Plan. They are calling for reduced congestion and better bus services. Businesses are concerned about a potential decrease in footfall due to lack of public infrastructure.

Congrats Brown Thomas you made national news - for standing in the way of a better Dublin City - better public transport, less traffic, cleaner air & safer streets for all! And to that lad from Kerry - you’ll still be able to drive to Dublin (assuming you beat Armagh 😜)

The bottom of Shop St, one of the most successful pedestrianised streets in the country, and the pedestrian crossings have been ripped out by Galway City Council ! This is one of the most unsafe & ignorant displays of public vandalism I’ve seen from a local authority in a long while.

The most ambitious car-free scheme on the continent, Montréal pedestrianized 11 commercial arteries—totaling 9.4 km—in seven boroughs this summer. A pandemic-era initiative pushed by business leaders, they have quickly become cherished destinations for locals and tourists alike.
