Reading "Show Me The Bodies: How We Let Grenfell Happen." I was aware of a resident's WP dot com blog warning that a fatal disaster was going to happen. I was not aware that the housing association had blocked it as a nuisance.

“Free speech deserves to be jealously guarded. But the ill-advised and off-base response to Durov’s indictment on platforms like X that encourage follower-chasing influencers to engage in performative moral outrage does not advance this cause” -R. DiResta theunpopulist.net/p/platforms-li…

One of the more fascinating dynamics in UK politics is that the biggest advocate of secure communications, and the open internet, is the military.

This is apparently only playing in one arthouse cinema in London, but I desperately want to see it. It's an unscripted film of real US officials playing through a wargame of, well, Trump 2 escalating quickly. wargamefilm.com

At VICE News we built an extremism desk with some of the best beat reporters in the business who covered this topic in a way no other publication was even coming close to. Then the bosses paid themselves huge bonuses a day before firing everyone. Great industry.

Quite sad that the Grenfell inquiry site has to have a "Leave Site" panic button. I deployed one only once, when I made a site for a domestic violence shelter, where users were at risk from even visiting the site. That tells you how much trauma the survivors still live with.

Huge news that X’s last big name exec still there from the Twitter days is leaving, voluntarily, and he’s their head of global policy (so squaring off all the chaos with governments worldwide). Nick’s unique experience will be fascinating to see unfold techmeme.com/240906/p1#a240…

In my conference speaking days I always wanted to do a talk on “what you can learn from the adult industry”, partially because it would have been a good talk, but mostly to watch the organisers fainting like Victorian spinsters.
