On Tuesday night, friends of Wadebridge Community Fire Station gathered to celebrate CM Steve Dyke’s final drill night after 45 years of service. In typical fashion we were called out to an emergency as the proceedings were about to get under way, but returned in time to celebrate all together.

In preparation for this year’s Royal Cornwall Show, we have been testing hydrants in the area. With the show expected to attract 100,000+ visitors, it’s crucial that the hydrants are well maintained should they be required in an emergency at one of the region’s largest events.
This week’s drill night consisted of High Volume Pump (HVP) familiarisation. Provided by the Government as part of a national strategy, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has a High Volume Pump located at Newquay Community Fire Station. Our thanks to Matt and Jock for the input.

Last night we teamed up with Cornwall Airport NQY Rescue and Firefighting Service to undertake training at their facility. The exercise simulated a large aircraft fire with casualties on board in need of rescue. Our thanks to the duty crew for their hospitality.

A first run out for our light 4x4 appliance this afternoon. Along with our major and line rescue unit from Bodmin Community Fire Station, it was mobilised to an animal rescue at Pinkson Creek.
