Thanks to Huron Park S.S. Geography & Science Sustainability Challenge we have 5 solar panel charging stations! Not only did Students discover they can charge cellphones, but they also charge our Chromebooks! Thames Valley DSB SDG2030

Gr 9s worked together in 3's to complete challenges that led them to a key in ice that they had to thaw after identifying Heat & Pressure in the rock cycle to unlock their prize. It was a fun teambuilding, #formative activity that I love to start the year off! Thames Valley DSB Huron Park S.S.

Tomorrow is wiring day! Gr 11s in Natural Disasters are building their Smart Homes that have sensors powered by #microbits The crew went directly for their models on Friday as they entered the room- great to see their excitement & engagement as we learn together! TVDSB STEM

Last month Huron Park S.S. College Avenue SS & London Central Leadership Students collaborated for a team building camping trip!🏕 We're excited to continue to collaborate this & build our network of student leaders! Thanks to Thames Valley DSB Outdoor Funding for making the cost equitable!

Trying out hexagonal thinking as we learn about #LandformRegions After connecting hexagons Students ventured around the room to add annotations to each others & create their model. Students & I agree we will try it again to make connections in future topics. Huron Park S.S.

HPSS & College Avenue SS combined for a Leadership Retreat last weekend, where we focused on reflection, problem solving and had a Guest speaker lead a workshop for Students. Student Voice makes me think this will be an annual event! Thames Valley DSB #community #leadership

Robots in Geography! Students are designing & building robots with Let's Talk Science STEM Kits to help the management of Canada's natural resources! Some will plant trees, while others will detect our fake oil spills. Final results to come! Huron Park S.S. TVDSB STEM

The 4th GROWgirls+ Conference is a wrap! 400+ Gr 9 female identifying, non binary & 2-Spirit youth from ALL Oxford County Schools came together for a day of empowerment, collaboration & positivity. Student Leaders did a great job planning the day & running breakout sessions 🎉
