Me to one of wee one’s Godmothers: I’m not sure I can cope with the socialising of church today… Her: go hang with your pal, take wee one to the park, JC will find you there So, let this be a reminder that we will be found where we are. And sometimes that’ll be the park.

Wise woman: “God is here, part of this conversation, how do you think they’d react to this?” Me: “You know when someone who loves a sport watches it and their team/person does something good and they go ‘yaaaas’…that’s kinda how I feel God is reacting to this.” All the feels.

After a lot of reflection after Sunday’s experience, I am so grateful to husband-friend for encouraging me to attend this team Taize contemplative service. It gave me food for thought and was such a blessing for my faith and soul. Grateful for this offering.

Today I was involved, somewhat accidentally though mercifully, in stopping someone from trying to take their own life. Honestly if I am never involved in something like that again, it will be too soon. Huge props to anyone working in the mental health field, in any capacity.

I woke up 20 minutes before my work day, having slept through not one but *two* alarms 🫠. I deal with people being late a lot but my normal arrival time to work is the moment I sat bold upright in bed after I checked my phone this morning. 🙈🙈🙈

The countdown to wee one’s second birthday is upon us and I’m having a moment of pride (in us as parents), gratefulness (for friends and family who’ve helped carry/cajole us this far) and such love (because, goodness, wee one is pretty freaking superb) 🥹.

In the homeland with wee one and one of my favourite things is her carrying around this bad boy from my own youth and declaring she’s “going to the shops”. 4 trips “to the shops” so far and she’s got me: chicken, a tiger, water, purple juice, granny and ice cream.

After an admin heavy day, is there anything better than a solid conversation about how faith can be a safe harbour even when our faiths are different? No? Didn’t think so. What a blessed ending to the day.

It’s been A Day. I’m just a witness. A witness who gets to go home to her own husband-friend and small creature. A witness who doesn’t need to worry about today’s conversations beyond today’s shift. A witness to strength and devastation being held in tandem. Lord have mercy.
